ITKO Instructor Profiles Ted Quinn JKA

 

Sensei Quinn began his karate training nearly 30 years ago and is a long time friend and sempai of Sensei Evans. Mr. Quinn trained at Hoitsugan dojo in Tokyo Japan from 1986-1991 as a member of KenOuKai, the Japan Self Defense Force team authorized to train at Hoitsugan.
His instructor was Kawamoto Norio Shihan at the time a Colonel in the Japanese Air Force.
Mr. Quinn trained many years before and after his first tour in
Japan in the U.S.

From 2001 to 2006, he again went to live in Japan. During this time he taught karate to Japanese kids and adults (in Japanese) at the Misawa City Budoukan, a JKA affiliated dojo, headed by Kawamura Sensei. Mr. Quinn was the only foreign instructor in the Aomori region, at the time. He also was the only foreign judge at the JKA regional tournaments.

Sensei Quinn now resides in Mackinaw Illinois U.S.A. He brings with him a wealth of true JKA style karate knowledge
