Upon arrival back into the United States, Ted gave me a phone call in his normal fashion, unannounced and while I was in bed asleep. He advised me of his schedule for the next three weeks and we all started planning training sessions and social gatherings.
Although we did not have the opportunity to spend as much time together as we would have liked, we did manage to train and play catch up since his last visit. It was a pleasure to train with Ted again, as he is a long time sempai and friend of 26 years. His karate is truly JKA karate and his technique is true and sharp. It was inspiring to listen to more of his experiences in Japan and training with the JKA since our last visit, emails and phone conversations. Ted has been training for approximately 30 years in Shotokan karate and close to half of it as a member of the JKA.
I have to admit, it was neat after we talked about the WTKO and the visit we just recently had from Sensei Amos, of his occasionally passing with him while in Japan. (small world after all) I told Ted, it is definitely my turn to visit him in Japan next.
We finished with a small gathering of friends at my house, saying our good byes until next time and parted ways once again.
