Pawnee Seminar August 2005

Sunday, 7th August, we had a visit from Sensei Brian Evans from the ITKO in Mackinaw.

Sensei Evans was invited to the club to help us go over some kata. We went through some warm up kata which included Taikyuoku Shodan, Nidan and Sandan. The differences being obvious when the kata were performed.
Next on the list was a refresher in Bassai Dai, this highlighted some differences in bunkai as we were shown the subtle changes to the bunkai.

Kanku Sho was then taken apart for us.
Again, some differences had appeared since I was shown the kata back in England, mainly in the execution of the last jump and turn where you perform the mikazuki - geri and ushiro - geri.

For the final kata, Jitte was chosen. Although not a massively difficult kata, it has to be performed strongly to appreciate the value of it. Sensei Evans did a great job of explaining the kata to all involved.
Thanks again to sensei Evans for taking time out to come to the club.
